Alessandro Tomasi is the head of the Applied Cryptography (ALEPH) research unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler in Trento, Italy. He earned an MPhys in Theoretical Physics and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Sussex, and an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Before joining Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Alessandro worked as a Postdoc Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Trento, working on coding theory and cryptography for biometric authentication and random number generators. Since 2020, Alessandro has been teaching lectures on cryptography for capture-the-flag challenges in the Italian cyberchallenge initiative at the University of Trento node, and access control at the University of Genoa since 2022.
His research interests currently focus on cryptography for cybersecurity, ranging from digital identity to e-voting and secure aggregation.
